Editorial Policy

Our project is launching in a time of crisis that is odd to come in the wake of a moment when everything seemed possible and the horizon has widened with no boundaries.

At that short moment, overcoming a chronic stalemate in Middle East history has not seemed beyond the reach of hands: The crisis of the cultural situation in its Arab, Eastern, Southern and humanitarian dimensions; The crisis of retrenchment and polarization; The crisis of Arab mind trapped in the rubble of the past and its strife; A confused human mind about a future which said that the history is to end before it.
The variables on the ground toward achieving democratic change may have backfired but the scene of open horizon remains within sight, soul, and memory. That is along with what we must strive to keep alive of hope of living in democratic societies. Societies that their peoples enjoy freedom, dignity, justice, and respect for human values.

Our work at OWIS has controlling the values and goals that we seek. We put it here to remind ourselves of it whenever we need to remember and reset the compass.
Controlling Values:

  • We respect and welcome the difference, in which, we explore and present common ground areas.
  • We start with the sole loyalty of truth as the right of peoples to obtain from the media and as the responsibility of the media towards them. At a time when the allegiances of the media are distributed among regimes, capital, and ideologies of extremism, consumption, illusion, and delusion.
  • We celebrate human heroism in their daily small struggles. We put their interests, agenda, and issues in the focus. We accommodate the marginalized, whatever the form of marginalization: economic, social, ethnic, religious, or age.
  • We are committed to the professionalism of media work in form and substance:
  • In substance, by standards on top of which are neutrality, objectivity, inquiry, depth, novelty, and audacity;
  • In form, by standards, on top of which are the values of beauty, perfection, professionalism, creativity, speed, suspense, interactivity, and multimedia.

To achieve this, we rely most heavily on the human value available in work teams that founded on:
Professionals, ambitious, diligent, responsible-conscious, creative, open-minded, individualistic in their energies and talents, and collective in their performance.
The Goals
We are fully aware of the size and meaning of the responsibility borne by the media.
We value and consider it as the primary influence in the lives of our societies.
Therefore, we set in mind goals to form the milestones of a journey that we hope will continue:

  • To add quality to the Arab media. This addition has two determinants: to be finer, and to be different.
  • Preserving the horizon of freedom of expression, opinion, creativity, and the right to circulate information, as these are among the biggest gains of recent years and their events.
  • To support the democratic transformation in the Arab world, to contribute to protecting it from local regressions, and to examine its foundations that are based on interests, realism, and the future as well as based on dates and feelings.

Each building has its keys, and we also have our keywords:
inspiration, change, boldness, quarrelsome, difference, respect, embracing hope, professionalism, quality, excellence, value, perfection, objectivity.

  • We are interested in professionally recognized international standards, and therefore we define ourselves as follows:
  • We belong to the School of Information Journalism
  • We strive to create the event and open forgotten and closed files
  • The ability to communicate with private sources, making private and exclusive shots
  • We pay close attention to investigative journalism
  • We present all views but we believe in relativism of opinions
